Snapdragons are brilliant colorful flowers with petals forming the shape of a dragon's mouth. They are native to the Mediterranean area; however, the specific species Antirrhinum majus are the garden variety we see in the United States. The petals of this flower come in shades of white, yellow, or even crimson colors. The scientific classification for snapdragons is division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Lamiales, family Plantaginaceae, genus Antirrhinum, and species majus.
