The pink
(Caryophyllaceaeis) a flower from the genus Dianthus. There are approximately
300 different species, native to the Eastern Hemisphere, found chiefly
in mediterranean regions. The colors of the flowers are mostly pink
to deep rose, some being red, purple white or yellow. Pinks are widely
grown in gardens in America or Europe because they are especially
suited to rock gardens. Related plants of the genus Dianthus are sometimes
also called pinks. Like the popular carnation is often named clove
pink, or the sweet William often called bunch pink. |
