About Images of Nature and the Creators

The Vision... Images of Nature originated due to a collaboration between
Dr. James Mayer from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ and Dr. Daniel Adams,
a senior lecturer, from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Images
of Nature is an educational site created as a tool for science educators. The site
includes quizzes about the images (SEM, EDS, PIXE, and Optical) as well as spectral
data (PIXE and EDS). Image archives of minerals, metals, living things, plants and
much more are available for examination on the web by students of all ages. In
particular, images of materials and living things that are found here in the state
Arizona, USA. Students explore through microscopic means and discover the
underlying properties which make up each object. The goal here is to combine
resource and vision to create a global educational contribution for the promotion of
science education around the world.
